Bernard Malamud and others. Our book is The Oxford Book of Jewish
Stories.

Sabbath Morning Torah
Study
This small group discussion meets the first Saturday of the month at
10:00 am. We study the current Torah portion and conclude with an
informal service.
Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Class
Congregation Children of Israel is proud to be offering its first adult
Bar/Bat Mitzvah class. This class will meet once a week. The class will
have a group Bar/Bat Mitzvah and each student will prepare a portion of
the Torah and Haftorah. We anticipate that this will be a community
celebration and are offering this class to those in our Temple who
never celebrated this coming of age ritual. The class will concentrate
on learning the basic prayers and their meaning, and how to chant the
Torah trope. Knowledge of Hebrew reading is required. Classes meet on
Sundays at 9:45 am.
Beginner's Hebrew
We are offering an adult Beginner's Hebrew class on Sunday mornings at
11:00 am. This class is for anyone who would like to learn the Hebrew
alphabet and how to read. There is no fee for the class. Please call
the Temple office to register.
